Scumbria, <What an incredible waste of time and energy this has all been.>

Now that's where I disagree with you. Even though the Chinese scandal won't amount to much, it's still very significant in my opinion. Same thing with Zippergate, Whitewater, etc.

The big issue is honor within the American Presidency. You'll probably argue that the honor never existed and we should never expect it anyway, but that's where we disagree.

You might also argue that a Republican president will probably have done the same things, and I'd agree. But that would be irrelevant to how things should be and what to expect out of our Commander-In-Chief.

I remember once on the Rambus thread that you said "Honesty and integrity is of utmost importance to me." Does this apply to the U.S. Presidency, or does this become irrelevant when we talk about Clinton?

RE:"Had they just left Clinton alone, he would have retired as the most popular President in decades. What an incredible waste of time and energy this has all been. Did the Republican adulterers in the House really need to torture us with the details of Clinton's adultery?"

It is a shame that Clinton will mainly be remembered for "I did not have sex with that woman".
Despite Jennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, Travelgate, Whitewater, various other sexual harassment and illegal campaign soliciting cases, had Billy kept Willy in his pants for the last 8 years, he'd probably be remembered as a popular president.

Scumbria-

That is why they wouldn't leave him alone. They knew how popular he was, and still is, for that matter. A year from now, a lot of Clinton critics are going to be yearning for the good ol' days.

Since most of them had extramarital affairs, they should have kept their mouths shut. Newt Gingrich, the ex-speaker of the House, recently married a staffer. He had been having an affair with her since 1993, I believe. Newt divorced his wife Mary Ann. It turned out that many other Republicans who condemned Clinton also had affairs.

Will Hillary divorce Bill? I don't know. A lot may depend upon Chelesa's feelings, but I believe Bill and Hillary will live very separate lives. She will be in the Senate, and he'll write his memoirs and look for a Presidential library.
