I agree that neither party is willing to make the changes necessary to really make a difference.

I wouln't go so far as to call SS a ponzi scheme. The rich don't benefit much from SS. On a relative basis, it is those who retire with average to little savings that SS matters most to.

Cutting taxes too much could be inflationary, so I am wary of that, but I think that some tax cutting (or at least a real simplification of the rules) is in order. Reducing spending is a biggie, but I don't see that happening.

What do you think of Bush's proposal to allow people to invest the money in the market instead?
