Justice Thomas is CLEARLY not lacking in erudition. I'd be willing to bet his resume and accomplishments personally and professionally beat either of ours all to hell. As for not asking any questions, there is nothing to be read into that other than perhaps he felt as I did that the FL SC opinion was so obviously flawed it begged to be vacated. JLA

jhild, here's a question for you. Why is that Clarence's Clerks always turn up as Conservative commentators/consultants? In the last two weeks the Dean of Stanford Law School (Thomas clerk) was telling the Florida Legislature to take matters into their own hands and some crazy conservative blond lady was on Fox and The Spin Room making a real ass of herself (another Thomas Clerk). Why are Thomas clerks so much more likely to be high profile partisans?

What is the source for the lack of respect for Clarence Thomas that you show in the following statement?

"Clarence's lack of erudition and his failure to offer even one question in the oral phase suggests that he is merely a rubber stamp to Scalia's guidance and may not really understand what Scalia's point was to begin with."

For that matter, do you understand Scalia's point? I believe I do, and the liberal members of the US SC do, because they sent the whole thing back to the FL SC based on it.

It seems it does not matter what is right or wrong with you, only whether it favors Al's tactics for challenging the election.
