No one knows anything about after- so we are in good (and bad) company. I am not sure after matters. What you believe about it could matter a lot though. I mean if you believe pestering people to death gets you a ticket to heaven, that matters. Or if you believe part of going to heaven involves killing infidel, that matters. Or if you believe you get to heaven by being kind, and compassionate and giving to the less fortunate, that matters.

What I believe or do not believe about "after" doesn't matter much. Because for me, it is rational to be good and kind and helpful, NOW, regardless of what is after. If it got me a better place in heaven by being cruel NOW I would not do it. I defy ANY being that would make me less than what I am. And I CERTAINLY defy the IDEA of a being that is less humane than the human I wish to be. If there is evil- evil is the idea that what you do to humans counts less than some idea. Because what we do now, and here, to each other, may very well be it. And I wish we all lived with that thought- because I think it would make us better.

Maybe not. But I think it would.
