The problem the Supreme Court <FL> has is that IT set the new deadline. Having done that, where is the justification for it to allow Gore even more time for hand recounts? I think that would be a tough position to square. Beyond that, it comes down to the question I had this a.m., which I still have not resolved because I haven't seen the statutes---what is the real test, or what are the real grounds, for the contest? I'm not clear about that. We do know that the FLA. Supremes were concerned with leaving enough time for the contest---but what could be the outcome? We will have to concentrate our collective minds in the direction of evaluating these questions. If not, I'll have to resort to my trusty Magic 8 ball. <g>
