I see the middle as moving to fiscal conservatism, moral moderation and social liberalism. By social I mean when it comes to issues like environment, choice, guns, health care and education. One of the big challenges will be the fact that I suspect we will not have such large surpluses in future years. I for one won't be paying any capital gains taxes this year thanks to the end of the year sell-off. Multiply my case x 1,000,000 and that's a lot of easy money the government won't be getting. Many investors are now in the red for the year and have taken their tax losses. But do expect a late December-January big-time rally now, and I don't mean in oil and drugs because those have priced in a Bush win already. I mean in techs. Beaten-down bargain techs. Like AAPl at 5.5 billion market cap and 4 billion cash in the bank. Just an example.
