The de minimus exception to Reg T applies to amounts less than $1,000.

This means that if you receive a Reg T (initial margin) call for $600, for example, the firm is not required to collect it under Reg T.

This fact isn't of much practical use to you, since if their firm policy requires it, they can demand it, but if someone tells you that "Federal law" requires that they collect it, you can at least have the (albeit somewhat empty) satisfaction of telling them that that is not precisely correct :)
