Gore battle will end when Florida high court rules: lawyer

TALLAHASSEE, Florida, Dec 4 (AFP) -

Al Gore's battle for the US presidency will end if he loses his Florida Supreme Court
appeal, his lawyer said Monday.

Asked specifically at what point the Democratic contender would concede defeat to
Republican George W. Bush,
lead lawyer for Democrat Gore, David Boies, said: "Whoever
wins the Florida Supreme Court, we will accept that.

"We are looking forward to having the decision as promptly as possible."

Referring to the rejection of Gore's challenge by Leon Circuit Court Judge Sanders
Sauls, he said: "The decisive battle is now before the (Florida state) Supreme Court.

"They won, we lost. We are appealing. This will be resolved by the Florida Supreme Court
and I think that will be the end of the battle."
