Sarmad -

The sample prices of WDC drives fell a little more than Maxtor but they were first to market with the 7200 rpm drives and maybe the prices were higher to begin with.

IMHO WDC success this quarter will be dependent on quantity of drives sold. They may stand to gain some market share with HDD leaving the seen but that might not impact their sales until next quarter.

I think the low price is recognition of a weak balance sheet that might make them the least likely to survive if the gloomy predictions occur and a recession puts a further squeeze on the industry.

Regards,
Mark
