Hey!

Actually I meant the ones who are detail oriented
and who would not be wont to deliberately mislead the
court about the holdings of pertinent cases.

Dropped by our local Future Shop (Big Technology Store) to pick up a couple of blank ZIP disks. They keep this treasure behind a special counter with all kinds of other shoplifter magnets such as memory sticks and PCMCIA cards. There was one guy acting as gatekeeper, standing between customers, thieves, and silicon bounty. Actually, he was trying to get merchandise moving from shelves to hands, but his progress was impeded by a woman trying to make a decision between @Home and Sympatico. Mr. Knowledgeable patiently explained the features, advantages, and disadvantages of each package, carefully guiding her through the meaning and import of each term she had difficulty understanding. The more information he presented, the more here confusion grew. Finally, as her bewilderment reached epic proportions and her indecision totally consumed her thought processes, she made a remarkable breakthrough. Clarity of thought prevailed. She selected Sympatico for two major reasons: It came in a larger box, and the @Home red and black packaging seemed depressing compared to the blue and yellow of Sympatico.

I spend thirty minutes waiting, but left without my disks because at the last moment she wanted the whole thing explained all over again --- Just to be sure.

I felt sorry for the guy. He was trying his best. People were lining up. Commissions were taking a hike. I chuckled as I left, thinking of the tech support people at Sympatico and what's coming their way.

Cheers, PW.

P.S. Business idea ...

Make a crap product. Forget customer support. Warranty be damned. Put it in an attractive box. Advertise like hell. Make a mint. After all, it worked for ......

Cheers, PW.
