OK, if it was illegal, then tell me, how could the Dems have put a new nominee on the ballot if there was not enough time to do that? So, to be legal, would be to mean what? the widow's name would have to be written in? or would the legal way be to simply declare Ashcroft the winner by default?

You seem to be a person who believes in doing the right thing...what would have been the right thing, the fair thing to do in this peculiar and difficult circumstance?
