I am anti-Hollywood. Anti-commercialism.

There are good films. There are good productions.

I saw a recent documentary on great authors like Fitzgerald reduced to screenwriters. Producers and directors have all the say in a movie, and are basically motivated to thwart the input of the screenwriter, seeing them as little more than coffee boys. They defend their views by an example of Ayn Rand's "Fountainhead" with Gary Cooper (which contains an excellent dialogue on 'parasites') in which she had complete control of the script. The movie flopped, but I would say more because of sabotage.

I leave it to the novelists to define humanity. Not the corporations.

There are many great films, and I do not mean to bash all of them. I am strong views though that movies infringe upon the dignity of man in many, many ways.
