Nosmo,

Are predictions based on exit-polling (and we all know how painful that can be) allowed to be reported real-time in the land of the US's largest trading partner before closing time?

In a word, no. Results are reported on all the national TV channels as polls report their results. Granted, it can be quite misleading (as in "We are predicting a win by Liberal Candidate X in the riding of Parkdale/High Park with a lead of 17 votes over next opponent with 1 poll reporting (124 votes"). It's a bit silly until at least over 50% of polls report in a given riding. But it does make for interesting television...
I miss the days when the commentator would "welcome" viewers from the next province as their polls closed and TV coverage began.
