Ellen, my reason for distrusting any recount on those ballots is the count is nothing but an opinion, guess or "divining" what someone wanted to do. You, as a lady, probably have long fingernails. If so, one of your fingernails can crease or impregnate the chad to make a vote. The machines were operating properly. Therefore, the count, statewide, was consistent in count by using the machine. I am sorry if someone is too weak to be able to push the stylus through the chad. I am sorry if someone isn't knowledgeable enough to know not to vote for multiple candidates for the same office. There has to be rules and the rule should be the chad has to be punched through and multiple votes for the same office should be thrown out. Frankly, the one lesson I learned for the future is I will inspect my ballot to insure there are no "hanging" chads. I will bet most people will do the same.
