mQ,

<< RFM, ... randomly read 80% of it. I am now an expert. >>

You are hereby declared an 80% random expert Gorilla Gamer.

100%'ers are rarer than Gorillas. Merlin comes close.

<< None of the passive "wait till you see the whites of their eyes" stuff for me. >>

Now having read the manual 80% wise and randomly, would you agree that QUALCOMM is a GORILLA, by the manuals guidance?

MW:

I have spotted a monkey in a chasm with bowling balls being thrown at it.

Welcome to the G&K Thread. I have been lurking the Globalstar thread ever since Summer of '99, when you came here and encouraged us to take a look at Globalstar, as well as others.

I'm looking forward to hearing your slant on some of our companies that are on watch here. We are interested in gorilla candidates, ie those that present the possibility of someday becoming dominant with an open proprietary architecture, and which display high switching costs and high barriers to entry, and which most of all develop a deep and extensive value chain.

So, go ahead, now that you've teased us, what's the monkey or gorilla candidate that you have spotted?

best,
Apollo

Mqurice,

None of the passive "wait till you see the whites of their eyes" stuff for me. I say go rushing off into the jungle, into chasms, beyond chasms. Grab the baby from its mother!! Sure, that's risky, but you get to keep the whole baby ... with a bit of luck.

Now THAT'S the kind of ranting I hope to see from you more often around here! :)

Maurice,

I've misplaced a post you wrote in the moderated Q thread a month or two ago but I'd like to ask you about it. If I remember correctly, I believe you wrote that there would be about 1 billiion digital wireless devices in the next three to five years and that Qualcomm would derive $80 per device.

When I read your post about it somethimes I thought you meant there would be 1 billion devices sold over the next three to five years. Other times I thought you meant that within three to five years, 1 billion devices would be sold per year. Please straighten me out.

Regarding the $80 per device, how did you arrive at that?

The reason I'm asking about all of that is because I'm trying to arrive at some potential profit estimates for Qualcomm years from now. I appreciate your help.
