Good points and good questions, Dale. However, most cached content need not be static, since CDNs are also used for streaming multimedia too. There are a number of different approaches that operators are adopting in order to keep their content "fresh," including multicasting of data and streams. Multicasting is another technique that is used to cut down on bandwidth requirements, compared to the point-to-point transmission model that would require individual session flows to every cache point. 2010? Wow, that's a long ways off. We're having enough of a difficult time just keeping up with targeting and sizing next year's application requirements, which two years ago seemed, themselves, to be 8 to 10 years out into the future.
