I am concerned that today's rally won't hold. I'd rather see the market move up more slowly and hold than leap up and fall back. The moderates seem to have left the market to the fanatics.

Watch out for Greenspan's speech on Friday. With the Republicans starting to push hard on a tax cut for next year's budget, Alan may feel he needs to weigh in with an implied threat to counter over-exuberant tax cuts with rate hikes. I don't think the market will be pleased at the prospect of a cat fight. If Bush has any sense, he will meet with Greenspan and work out some sort of compromise before he pushes Greenspan into a corner.
