I'm not confused. Economic growth numbers are ALWAYS trailing. I'm discussing cause/effect. My mother-in-law had a very healthy portfolio when she retired last year, now she has to modify her plans significantly due to this market sell-off. This problem will be country wide as many who had plans of upgrading homes, buying new cars, etc. will put those plans on hold as a result of severely damaged portfolio's. One friend wrote this to me yesterday with regard to the market: * Jim, Don't know how you are doing, but I've been taken out, rode hard and put up wet. Bill * You KNOW this, you however are busy obfuscating. I'm not saying we will have a recession I'm just saying there is a higher probability of it than a year ago because of this market action. Jim
