dj...who's talking about pc parts...i was addressing your statement that the euro/dollar conversion would increase buying power in the eec member countries for usa goods....

conversion rates, as i stated clearly before, have little or no effect on finished good pricing at the consumer level....the consumer level pricing, regardless of conversion rates are based primarily on in-country market forces of supply/demand, along with tariffs and perhaps multi tier distribution channels on imported products.

in your life time as a consumer, how often did you realize a deep and continuing discount due to conversion rates? keep in mind the premise that the eec member nations are not rife with "made in usa" finished goods....in fact most usa manufacturers of consumer goods have established sister companies manufacturing in-country to the specification of that country.....coke is a perfect example....in-country manufacturing negates freight and tariffs....

as you are cognizant about dell....do they have a subsidiary operation in brazil, and if so what motivated them to do so?
