Scumbria, lets just say Republicans abandoning their conservative principles when elected to office would not be unprecedented. Politicians frequently suffer from a need to get something done (even if it would be better to do nothing) and to get favorable press attention. The Republican congress started out more conservative then GW, but ended up spending more then Clinton's original requests. I am fairly sure that I have a much higher opinion of GW then you do, but that is not saying much. I'm not sure if he has the fortitude to stand up to the democrats in battles about budgets and policy. If he does have the fortitude I am not so sure that he is really all that conservative to begin with so he might not have the desire to fight for conservative ideas. If he has the desire and the fortitude he might not have the power given his lack of mandate and the 50/50 split in the Senate.

Scumbria... "Pretty funny stuff. Are the Democrats going to finance his next campaign, too?"

Sounds like you've given up the Ghost?
