I watched an interview of Jessie Ventura, the wrestling performer who became governor of a U.S. state, Wisconsin I think. A member of the audience asked him about 'wasted' votes, and I think his reply worth repeating.

If you believe that one candidate will do a superior job than the rest, then voting for that candidate is NOT a wasted vote, even if the only vote that candidate receives is yours. You've done your duty as a citizen and as a voter.

Of course, I'm going by memory, and this was not his exact words, but I believe I've captured the spirit of what he said.

I voted Alliance. My guy lost. I didn't lose. I feel I voted wisely. Greater numbers voted foolishly.

It is not my nature to view myself wise and the majority of my fellow citizens as fools, but I'll make an exception in this case.

Cheers, PW.
