Ref <Impeachment of Supreme Court Judges> US Supreme Court Justices are appointed for life. The only way a US Supreme Court Judge position is vacated is by retirement, death, voluntary resignation or Impeachment. The process of Impeachment of a judge is similar to the Impeachment of a President. In the 60's there was talk of impeaching Chief Justice Earl Warren, and a motion to impeach Justice Douglas. In principle, a judge can be impeached for anything, but thank God, in practice judges have been impeached only for corruption or bribery. In this emotional election mess, the sheer talk of impeachment of judges, is an indicator of the destructive partisanship ! Hopefully sanity will return to this country and this thread, soon.
