<Do you remember the reason for attempting to impeach Earl Warren and Douglas? And who brought the motion to impeach? > The Warren Court set the country in a new direction. In the 50's, it ordered desegregation in several southern schools and universities, and this unleashed a firestorm of protest by a large number of Southerners. In addition the Warren Court banned prayer in public schools, and this remains a contentious issue, even today. It also enlarged the criminals rights with the Miranda case. All these rulings were extremely unpopular in certain sections, leading to calls for the impeachment of the Warren Court. Douglas was singled out, since he was the most liberal judge on the court. I do not know who actually tabled the motion for impeachment
