I wouldn't bother. I don't know of any compelling 3com product. Do you know of any? Almost all the boxmakers use intel based NIC interfaces - intel's ethernet products are superb.

Anyone buying infrastructure for smallish nets who is not willing to pay for Cisco is better off buying intel. If they want it even cheaper they will buy some rubbish from an unknown brand but why on earth buy anything from 3com? They have no niche and have lost their brand reputation. IMO.
