IMO Apple's problem was always that it offers a limited number of strongly differentiated products. Instead of just ordering a computer by the specs as you would with CPQ, Dell, etc. - you order an Apple computer like the cube or the iMac based more on whether you are attracted to the system. So they had to have an unbroken string of successful product launches. I think that was one of the key weaknesses of the company. Also their reliance on MOT for G-4s is another weakness.

With a fair amount of the excess wrung out of boxmakers I think investors will begin to see Apple as a unique situation as it was in 98. Rich

Hi Michael & all - did AAPL resume trading in AH. Island didn't show any big reaction. One would think the stk would tank with such a big miss, unless it has bottomed!

best, Bosco
