Tenchusatsu, Dan, I am not Dan, but that's ok. No way! Intel's roadmap, in my (biased) opinion, is a heck-of-a-lot stronger than AMD's. I didn't expect to agree with me, just something to think about. The only two strong points in AMD's roadmap are dual-core processors and LDT. The dual-core CPU is kind of a long shot, but LDT can be very important across all product lines. My secret hope is that it will somehow free the world of AGP, which is a curse on the entire industry, the ugliest kludge that Intel ever came up with. Everything else on AMD's roadmap isn't much of a concern to me. (I think you already know about my low opinion of x86-64.) Being "Intel-compatible", or x86 compatible is something that made Intel a lot of money. Just about all of the departures failed. We will see if Itanium will be the first non-Intel-compatible processor that succeeds. So far, everything is pointing to the direction that Itanium will be a monumental failure. But it's funny that I find many of your posts reasonable (even the old Rambus debates), yet our conclusions are so much different. I am not surprised about Itanium related stuff, but most recently, I was surprised about the low opinion you have of X-Box. You know I am not an Intel fan, but I think X-Box will be a great product.
