but, based on existing case law, there's no way the FL SC could let it stand. At least, I hope to God that's so.

This dog won't hunt. Period. You can run out all the possible scenarios and Gore loses in each instance. If, in the extremely small chance that the Seminole and/or Martin cases make it to, and are affirmed by, the Florida SC, the political fallout against the Dems for exhibiting such rank hypocrisy would be untenable. The "count all the votes" mantra would really come back and bite them on the @ss. The legislature would not only send up their slate of electors, but a majority of the public would strongly back such a move, IMO. And that's the ultimate trump card.

To put it kindly, if Al Gore truly believed what he was saying today, then he's seriously out of touch with reality.
