Well, if you wanted to find an index that dislikes exuberance, you might check out the VGY. Recall that it broke the 1990 TL just a 3 weeks ago or so. Getting back over that (405 or so) would also impress me.

There is not much to the shelf you speak of. I would not respect it very much. The support coming out of 1999 is rising support. That support is mostly overhead resistance now.
