<<Lastly, as a "lapsed" Southern Baptist, I'll just say that those Argentinian torturers you mentioned probably weren't Baptists. I wonder what religion they might have been, hmmmm? >>

As a baptized Greek Orthodox(which was one with the Roman Catholic Church until 1054 AD), I shouldn't say this:

I think the Argentinian dudes were the same religion as some guy named Torquemada who was the same religion as the people with those Red hats outside of Rome that were hoarding gold and eating filet mignon while Italians were starving in the streets during WWII.

But enough, I didn't mean to focus on one religion...I have always believed that religion is the opiate of the people. One of my favorite quotes.

edit: I long ago rejected my Orthodox religion for similar doctrinaire issues.

There are a lot of Protestants in Argentina, unlike the rest of Latin America, but I don't know what religion the torturers had. Obviously, they could not examine their consciences regularly and do what they did.

I recognize that Gore is capable of thinking that other people have done wrong. The doubt in my mind is that he ever questions himself.

Rather than have Ray sic the quote squad on me, I'll just say some really old dudes said some really smart things, and one of them was "Know thyself." And, "The unexamined life is not worth living."

I don't think Gore examines his conscience.
