My ability to paint is awful, but my perception of distance and shapes, along with colors, is much above average. We all have seened a zillion pictures on those cards for sale in stores we shop, and they are very very good, as only the best of the best artist get good paying jobs. But I have noticed that these artist seem to paint alike in the sense that what sells the best is what these card maker companies give us as the selection. Almost as if only 1/2 of all those great drawings by artist find they way to the mainstream market of Hallmark and food market and department stores which sell probably 90% of all sold. Have to visit small local or out of the way places to see different variations of the same themes, and for like I its worth it. So I was surprised that this person who is mainstream 110% actually went to a place or store outside mainstream usa. I checked the back of the card to see which company printed it, as I was sure it was not mainstream. And it was not, and it was as follows. Below is the url to where you might find as I did that these artist have produced a selection both similiar and different at the same time to what we see in mainstream. Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists Worldwide amfpa.com In 1956 a worldwide artist’s organization was founded... Only those who are themselves physically handicapped can appreciate how much it means to be largely independent of public welfare and state assistance; it means everything: life and personal freedom. Today the Association is known all over the world... High artistic standards The artwork created by these people is by no means a front for handouts. The Association excepts only those as "members" with high artistic standards. The personal abilities of each individual artist remains in the foreground, not his or her handicap. The AMFPA represents 500 mouth and foot painting artists in 60 countries.
