OT Hi Scumbria, RE: "Colorado recently voted down an amendment (24) which would have given voters some control over growth. "

Nearby Redmond, Washington, you needed a permit before you could cut a tree down. I was surprised to find out that Calif (which is supposedly "advanced" in such matters) has no such laws. Anyone can clear cut anything without a permit.

Washington is also very advanced with one type of air pollution control - they have alternate days designated for fireplace use in order to minimize the smoke pollution.

Calif has very different laws from Washington in this regards. In Calif, they wonder why more children have asthma...

Rather suprising for a high-tech community that is highly educated.

Regards,
Amy J
