Then how come the US Supreme Court knew there was no substantiation?

Were the Rep lawyers supposed to call the Dem lawyers on that error during the FL Sup Ct hearing?

The appellate courts generally are not supposed to do their own research in our adversary system, they are supposed to let the adversaries dig everything up. Cases are supposed to be decided on the evidence before the court and appeals by the "record" of the case in the lower court.
