Certainly seems to be another indication that the Republican partisans have been more willing to get behind their guy than the Democrats have been willing to do for ours. Boy, the Republicans are hollerin' about the suits in Martin and Seminole Counties, however. The idea that the Democrats would actually complain in court about the Supervisor of Elections in those two counties allowing Republican operatives to come in and write on ballot applications in what appears to be a clear violation of the law has them apoplectic. It is also amusing to me that each time a media pundit talks about this, at least on the occasions that I've heard, they say things like "Well, it certainly seems that this was a violation of the law, and other times when this has happened the absentee ballots have been thrown out. But, I can't imagine that this would be the remedy a judge would pursue in such an important and close election." It is also humorous to me that there is so much concern about the African American judge who is hearing the Seminole case. "Can she be fair? Afterall, she was passed over by Jeb Bush for appointment to the appellate court and she is a Democrat." This from the same folks who were okay with Katherine Harris using her "discretion" in rejecting hand counting, etc. and who have no problems with Jeb Bush saying he thinks that it's "courageous" of the Florida legislature to take up the possibility of appointing its own slate of electors. It will be absolutely amazing if this judge takes as rigid a stand on the law as Ms. Harris. Bottom line, good to hear from you. These Bush folks can get awfully inbred and some of 'em can put out a pretty shrill version of group think.
