OT, re today's Florida cases: The plaintiffs also told the Seminole County judge today they'll suggest a possible ALTERNATIVE to throwing out ALL the absentee ballots, since that would be such a drastic measure that she might be reluctant to impose it (even though it's their first choice). That alternative would be to have the judge order an "adjustment" to the county's vote-totals, based on a statistical analysis of how the "questionable" ballots were likely to have been cast.

That sounds really far-out -- but in fact, there's legal precedent in Florida for such action by a judge. Certainly wouldn't go-down-well with the public, I'm sure, but might be preferable to a complete toss-out of ALL absentee ballots (and although such a move would help Gore, it'd probably give him a SMALLER benefit than a rejection of ALL the absentee votes).

Curiouser and curiouser...
