I'd be interested in how you all reacted to the insistence of the Gore attorney on reading depositions aloud, even though the Bush attorney said he would stipulate to these depositions being admitted without being read aloud in the interest of time. The reason the Gore attorney insisted (when pressed) was because they are on live TV and the public should hear them.
Obviously they are presenting not just to the judge, but to the court of public opinion. When time is so crucial, and admittance of the material is agreed upon, thus negating the need to read aloud, is this odd or not?
It seems to imply that something more than the presentation of the case to the judge is going on here. PArtisanship aside, is this acceptable legal behavior- this using the legal forum to sway public opinion?
