Wayne and other racetrack railbirds, I was saddened to hear about Chris Antley's murder. His winning Kentucky Derby and Preakness rides on Charismatic were only equalled by his jumping off Charismatic at The Belmont when he discovered the horse's leg had a bone showing through. I know he had drug problems and getting sober meant he could no longer make weight. He quit riding in March. I also know that he was a couple of bricks short of a full load for a lot of his life, but the guy could ride.

I look forward to eventually reading a report on who killed him and why. Fixing a race doesn't seem likely, as it has been too long since he rode. A bad drug deal? I hope not. IMHO, this is much more interesting than the O.J. Simpson fiasco, which is why it seems to be getting almost no press. And given the expertise of the LAPD and especially of the LA District Attorney, who knows if we will ever find out. I hope Chris doesn't end up as another Black Dahlia murder.
