Koop Koop de Poop

AUSTIN, Texas (Reuters) - Drkoop.com Inc. (NasdaqNM:KOOP - news), the embattled health Web site co-founded by former U.S. Surgeon General C. Everett Koop, said on Wednesday the Nasdaq market notified the firm its shares have been trading below the minimum bid price of $1 for 30 trading days.

The company, which posted a wider-than-expected third-quarter loss in October and named a new management team along with cutting 33 percent of its work force in August, said it plans to call a special stockholder meeting to vote on a reverse stock split in order to ``demonstrate compliance with the rule to maintain its Nasdaq listing.''

``We consider the maintenance of our Nasdaq National Market listing to be very important and intend to take the appropriate steps to ensure that we maintain it,'' said Richard Rosenblatt, Drkoop.com's (KOOP.O) chief executive officer, who took the helm in August.

``Since the new management team arrived at Drkoop.com, we have generated significant momentum, reduced the cash burn rate, attracted high caliber individuals and strengthened our relationships with many of our partners. We continue moving forward on our turn-around plan,'' he added.

Shares of Drkoop.com were down 1/32 to 1/2 on the Nasdaq Wednesday.

Yawn -- let me know when it falls through 112 -- couple of interesting obstacles in the way of that happening. Does look like it wants a new interim low on this move though.
