Hightechhooper,

Rationality will be your undoing. I rationally held AMD all the way down to a PE of 5 (when it is positioned better than ever to compete with Intel), where I was forced to liquidate my portfolio. Yes. This is where my bitterness comes from! I fear you are following the same pattern.

You are mistaken to think that Intel's problems are just a shortterm cyclical hickup. Itanium is a flop. P4 is not viable until it is migrated to 0.13u. AMD lowers the price of the 1 Ghz Athlon to $186 next week. In 2001, Intel margins will be squeezed from fab expansion expenses and serious ASP erosion. The ability to pad earnings with sales from securities is dwindling as the value of their portfolio has been creamed like everyone else's. Intel is sailing into the perfect storm and tells its shipmates that the forecast is clear. Yes. I hate Intel, but I believe that my prognosis is based in reality.

Pravin.
