I don't know why it never occurred to me that it is perfectly possible to short very small odd lots and do it economically using market orders with cheap commissions. I had, for example, thought that shorting QCOM meant taking on enormous risk. But if you only short 10 shares it can practically go to the moon and you won't go broke, whereas you have an excellent chance of shaving off a few hundred dollars. DUH! The only time I have ever said that, and I address it to myself.

My DIA shorts aren't looking so bad at the moment.
