The ethos is "if it feels good, do it." Consequences went out the window a long time ago. Kids can't speak for themselves, at least not as effectively as a well-organized and PC lobby group. Ever notice that boomers feel about priests the way some people feel about clowns? I have a theory about why the baby boom generation has such a phobia about religion. It's that they decided that their bland, uptight WWII-era parents were no fun, and that they weren't ever going to let someone tell them again that they were bad or irresponsible. Hence the values vacuum that our kids are caught up in.
