What are chances of NTAP being bought out? Is there majority controlling interest. Yahoo show Market cap of 25 Billion, 316 million shares outstanding and a float of 268 million shares. With the potential and competition in the storage area, would NTAP be a target of SUNW, DELL or some other company? tia. larry

Mike, the ORCL announcement that they have selected NTAP for their own storage needs is very significant. Remember that ORCL has alliances with EMC and NTAP for joint marketing, so no allegiance to NTAP is there. This was a decision based on the criteria set by ORCL's own IT folks.

ORCL is, arguably, the most web-centric IT infrastructure of any major corporation. They are a total employee self-service company and have consolidated over the last 2 years their data centers world-wide, including their e-mail. They were incredibly aggressive with this internal IT restructuring that resulted in a $1B savings in 1 year, according to LE's propoganda machine.

What better reference account could NTAP hope for?
