John Roth was interviewed on CBC NewsWorld a few minutes ago (taped from earlier today). He stressed the Wireless aspect of business. Stressed Asia Pacific sales and deeper penetration of United States market. In answer to telecom slowdown of spending, he indicated no problem and their main customers are blue chip. Indicated demand for product is unabated. Question about being a bank was answered as we are not a bank, etc, etc, and no problem. No plans to retire and having fun doing what he's doing. Bought up having bought several thousand shares recently. Compared share price situation today to that in 1998. Next year is 30 to 35 percent growth. Said that In 1997 we shifted direction, and we have the portfolio of products we need now.

All in all, absolutely nothing new but seems to be giving the same message consistently (which is a good thing). I found it interesting that he was clearly stessing wireless, not optical. I believe wireless is the hidden surprise for upside in 2001.
