TG, the sleeping giant has already been awakened. Al Gore did that with his, shall we say, unreasonable, and extensive lawsuits.

Hi Greg,

I happened to be listening to NPR's "Talk of the Nation" yesterday and the host Juan Williams had two Florida State Representatives on as guests. A caller from Evanston, IL came on and started to give a very succinct and thoughtful explanation of estoppel rights as they relate to the dates imposed by the FLSC. He was interrupted by Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart who started to address the matter as moot due to the pending Legislative action.

At this point, the caller interrupted Balart and in an episode of radio drama I've never experienced before, the Evanston caller dressed down Balart in a most emphatic manner. To paraphrase, the caller warned Balart in no uncertain terms that for the Legislature to act precipitously to illegally designate electors would create a firestorm of reproach across the rest of the nation. Balart was left speechless.

I don't believe the Republicans in the Florida Legislature have much of a clue as to what they are about to ignite across this country.

What a mess......

Best, Ray

I think the Florida Legislature is reacting to Gore's request to the Florida Supreme Court to void Bush's certification, and the failure of the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit to step in. Oral arguments in front of the Florida Supreme Court are set for tomorrow at 10:00 a.m., aren't they?
