costs while Mr. Gore only wants all the votes properly counted.>>

Gore only wants all the votes properly counted in highly democratic counties. Sorry, make that highly democratic precincts within highly democratic counties.

Patime..Ok, I'll bite...

<<Its amazing how people can view things so differently. The question could be why doesn't Bush concede. He lost the national vote ....

Have you been paying attention? California DID NOT COUNT 1 1/2 MILLION Absentee (historically heavily Republican) ballots. Gore's "lead" is by only 2 to 3 hundered THOUSAND votes.....If they counted CA, that would vanish, and you guys know it!!!

<<<and has lost florida by nearly 23000 votes.
Where have you been? In FLA voting for Buchanan? How can you divine this number when the whole of FLA is fighting over a margin of hundreds with Dumocrats openly trying to cheat by creating votes out of EMPTY presidential ballots, (undoubtedly entered by people unwilling to vote for EITHER of these knuckleheads).....

<<<He talks about the rule of law, but has stated if the courts do not rule in his favor, he'll want the florida legislature to overrule the supreme court.

Did you go to High School? Or was it one of those newfangled feel-good diversity schools that teach you the 3 R's....Recycling,Racism and Reproduction? One of the big constitutional debates was whether to make the legislature or the courts supreme in picking electors. Remember the electoral college? Its why the popular vote is meaningless, to promote a better union of the states.

<<<To me, it looks like it is bush who is trying to win at all costs while Mr. Gore only wants all the votes properly counted.

Since the rest of your argument seems to be so well thought out, I will allow you to reconsider this....since I realize you were just trying to get a rise out of some of us on the board!!!

Don't take it too personally, Patim.....I'm sure you're an ok guy, when you are not thinking with your emotions......

v-OT-e Hi patim,

Now really...the popular vote has absolutely nothing to do with the election of a president, this has clearly been acknowledged by anyone who has watched the news and has ever been in the same room with the Constitution or the United States of America. Why bring it up again? It's a pop-up bunt to the pitcher, for God's sake.

We may as well say that Gore won because his bald spot is bigger, especially when we take into account that Tipper has the better bikini wax job. Who gives a crap? The contest is, and always was, decided on the basis of the electoral vote.

As for lawsuits, read the numbers. Who has filed more, and who has filed more appeals? Gore and his team, that's who. As for who has occupied the limelights to a greater extent? Again, read the numbers- it's Gore. Remember Monday night football?

Who has been fighting Bush's battles besides Bush and his team? No one, that's who. On the other hand, we have a slew of organised demonstrations with the assistance of Jesse et. al., lawsuits filed on behalf of prominent Gore contributors, from which Gore picks and chooses participation. The only news item concerning Bush support has to do with the protest following sequestering of the vote recount, behind closed doors, with no cameras or witnesses (including the press!), a protest which incidentally shut the process down. Would you trust republican-only recounts in republican counties, with no witnesses? Not if you have an ounce of sense, you wouldn't, nor would you swallow any horseshit to the contrary.

I don't believe that, by sitting on his ranch with infrequent brief public comments, that Bush is seeking to force a set of views on the process on the population. To me, he is the one who is remaining above the fray.....

As for the strict numbers: Any engineer can explain the value of significant digits, and why they're important. Have you ever gotten incorrect change? Heard of the IRS making a mistake? Had to correct the bank's statement? I could hook up a highway line painter to my truck, paint two lines on two different roads, but I can't tell you the length of the lines any closer than in tenths of miles, because that's how my odometer reads. Don't ask for inches, you won't get'em.

If your belief is the one being sold, that every vote should absolutely positively be accurately counted, then you're not being realistic. Nor is it realistic to expect the process to drag on in deference to this obsession for vote-counting detail, especially when the obsession is so obviously based the notion of mining votes where the ore is the richest.

Just my opinion. Thanks for the post, and yes, go OSX.

Regards to all,

Aggie
