Pete, No, Ellroy isn't my cup of tea. I'm more of a Ross Thomas sort of guy. I have just seen stories based on The Black Dahlia about 50 times in movies and tv shoes.

It is really too bad about Antley. I found out at simulcast on Sunday when I was playing Hollywood and they had a memorial for him. The sound wasn't on, so I had to wait until I got home to get the details, which are still pretty sketchy. However, I don't think the police would say it is being treated as a homicide unless they had pretty good evidence that such was the case.
