Bill: This pretty much confirms the Isonics tale. When that is outed I expect Isonics to bump up again.

I think Tom is using a Kryotech cavity to cool a 1.2GHz Athlon. A 20% overclock from cooling the chip to -40 doesn't seem unreasonable.

(btw, the Fahrenheit and Celcius scales cross at ~-40, so my lack of units in the above can be excused)

Of course it depends on the credibility of the source. The first part of the post is what I have the most trouble with:

1.) AMD has demoed 1.7GHZ Athlons at some trade shows.

What trade shows? How come he is the only person to know about it?
