In our house, we have a little tradition that we try and follow. Since the children have been little we have taken them out for a treat after doctors appointments. Normally it is to get Ice Cream. We are especially mindful of making Brian's day special after he has seen the Cardiologist and goes through having an echocardiogram done. On Wednesday, just like last year, after Brian's doctors appointment we went and picked up his "best friend." I took the two boy's out to lunch at the Dairy Queen. They were so cute in the car on the way. The two boys discussed their memories of last years trip to the Dairy Queen. To me it was really enlightening, as to how much of an impact these things make on their young life's. It went so far as when we went into the restaurant, Josiah said to Brian, "Let's sit here, just like we did last year." I smiled and the boys laughed. We ordered our food. The boy's lunch came with a "token" for them to use to get Ice Cream with. After they finished eating, they went to choose their treat. Josiah had known all along he wanted a "star kiss" He decided to try a different flavor this time. Brian had noticed in the freezer, individual DQ cakes in sundae cups. They had a bit of decorations on them as well. He knew that was what he wanted. It was not one of the treats that he could use his "token" for. Since this was a special day for Brian, I purchased the cake cup. Brian slipped the "token" quickly back into his pocket. Sitting back at the table Brian happily eating his treat. Josiah appearing not really to be liking his. After a few minutes Josiah, set his down and said, "I really don't like this" Before I even had time to think through the situation, Brian pulled that token out of his pocket and offered it to his friend saying, "Here Josiah, you can use this to go get something else you like." Josiah ask Brian if he was sure. Brian had not hesitated for a moment, he was sure. Josiah headed back up to the counter to pick a new treat. Brian followed him saying..."I will help you" I just sat in the booth and watched these two little friends. A moment in time not soon to be forgotten.

Happy Parenting,
Jane
