Ibexx,

Thanks for posting the IDC numbers, very reassuring.

There seems to be a huge disconnect between what the SSB and the other analyst's say, and what IDC numbers show. If IDC is right, Intel is very cheap.

Who ya gonna believe?

John

Thank you for the post. But it appears the IDC is lowering their estimates based on Gateway's reports.

I always assumed the source of their estimates was somewhat higher on the food chain.

Ibexx, >Surging sales of notebook computers and strong Asia-Pacific region demand in the fourth quarter helped partly offset a sharp drop in U.S. consumer desktop personal computer sales, a top market researcher will report on Thursday.

Especially good news for Intel. Asia is a stronghold for Intel and Intel has a near monopoly on notebooks. These two things, plus server chips and related hardware have to give Intel a chance of making the quarter.

Re: International Data Corp. of Framingham, Mass. said its revised outlook calls for worldwide PC industry shipments to reach 40.15 million in the fourth quarter, up 19.6 percent from the year earlier but down slightly from IDC's prior forecast.

That number seems low. If it's true, and VIA sells a total of a million processors, and AMD sells 8.5 Million, then Intel's market share is down to 76% and AMD is around 21%.
