Seriously, this sort of buying in the face of bad news is a powerful signal

The only thing is, the bad news is a dynamic factor which is likely to worsen. Is buying sustainable through three weeks of warnings? Trimtabs cash levels vs. IBM/MSFT/INTC/DELL/....

same here, re. doubts...only, CNBS is trumpeting the same argument, and that makes it suspect.
they go like 'how much worse can the news possibly get'. that doesn't take into account the momentum of the bad news trend. we get warnings every day now...and they contain ever more worrisome data, i.e. the projected misses get bigger and bigger. i can't remember ever having seen things deteriorate at such speed.
that said, i do think an ST bottom is very close...followed by a rally into expiration, which is one of the candidates for the high of the month in terms of cycles. the other one is Dec. 26/27.

query for the tax loss selling experts: is Dec.31 the cut-off date for individual tax loss selling?
