I would feel better on Florida vote if...

- the feeble, the ignorant, the novices all voted properly with no doubles disqualified

- no punch cards were used

- all absentee ballots were counted

- an additional 30,000 Panhandle votes were cast as expected

- no WestPalm fraud with after-the-fact extra Gore punches

- no intimidation of non-English speaking immigrants

- no extreme questioning of voter signatures

- no political party bussing of voters

- no logical need for hand recounting

If I may reflect upon your reflections, Greg...can I take you back to the ancient days when we all sat (or slept?) in Senior Government class? Remember the first time you heard of the electoral college?

Any chance it struck you as a "wierd" system then...as it did many of us "back then?"
In our late adolescent fix the world years, we all could think of a better way to do the election thing.

Wouldn't it be cool if this relic of pre-modern travel, pre-tin can/string communication was set aside so that the entire nation elected the top job winners and not just the East Coast electoral college distribution system?

Sorry, must be having an idealism flashback...
